Job summary

Turner & Townsend in Houston is seeking a Controls Design Manager to lead building automation design for data center projects, partnering with clients and project teams to deliver reliable, scalable control architectures.

The role requires strong background in BAS, SCADA, PLCs, and cross-functional leadership to guide design, integration, and commissioning. Expect on-site collaboration and strategic engineering oversight across multiple fast-paced programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Controls/Automation Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in controls design, building automation, or mission-critical facilities.
• Experience with BMS/EPMS/SCADA/PLCs and networked control systems.
• Experience supporting hyperscale data center or mission-critical projects.

Responsibilities

• Directly assist the Project Manager in managing design and construction phases with emphasis on controls engineering and automation strategy.
• Coordinate meetings, develop and maintain control sequences, standards, and BOMs.
• Lead reviews of control documents, FAT/IST planning, and commissioning support.
• Manage external controls consultants and system integrators, ensuring on-time, compliant deliverables.
• Communicate controls requirements across engineering, operations, and facilities teams.
