Job summary

Reading Truck Group is seeking a Controls Engineer to develop, audit and maintain automation systems across our Reading, PA operations. You will scope projects, design solutions, evaluate options, estimate costs, and implement designs that improve safety, productivity and quality.

Responsibilities include advancing robotics adoption, program management, and collaboration with IT to optimize manufacturing. A strong candidate will have PLC/HMI/SCADA experience and Lean Manufacturing exposure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 7+ years experience in controls and automation including specification, design, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Experience programming PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems.
• Robotics programming experience preferred.
• 5+ years in automotive or related industry preferred.
• Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Improve existing controls and automation systems and processes.
• Ensure safe operation of controls and communicate issues to leadership.
• Develop, design, test and maintain records for controls and automation systems.
• Advance manufacturing processes through robotics and automation at Reading Truck Group locations.
• Project manage controls and automation projects.
• Collaborate with IT to reduce labor, improve productivity and reduce costs.
• Promote safety policies and develop technical solutions to improve safety.
• Work with maintenance and outside contractors to implement new controls and minimize downtime.
• Support daily production activities and lean initiatives.
• Keep leadership updated on key metrics and project progress.
• Perform other duties as directed by management.
