Job summary

Automationtechies in Tampa, FL seeks a Senior Controls and Automation Engineer to develop Siemens PCS 7 and Rockwell control applications from scratch, guiding projects from programming through startup and commissioning on-site.

The role requires 5+ years of automation experience, deep knowledge of DCS architectures and control narratives, and the ability to interpret P&IDs and drawings; travel up to 10% and after-hours support are expected as projects advance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industrial process automation and control systems experience.
• Strong hands-on programming experience with Siemens PCS 7.
• Rockwell PLC programming experience.
• Ability to develop control applications from scratch, not just modify existing code.
• Solid understanding of DCS architecture, process control strategies, sequences, and interlocks.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, control narratives, and technical drawings.
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills; able to work independently and with project teams.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to pass a background check for on-site DoD CUI projects.
• Driving record clean in the past 7 years.

Responsibilities

• Develop Siemens PCS 7 and Rockwell control applications from scratch, including control logic.
• Develop and modify control system configurations and operator interfaces.
• Interpret P&IDs, control narratives, and technical drawings.
• Test, troubleshoot, and commission control systems through startup.
• Support process control system upgrades and migrations.
• Collaborate with customers, engineers, and project teams to develop automation solutions.
• Provide after-hours troubleshooting for 2–4 weeks post-commissioning.
• Travel approximately 10% overnight; major PCS 7 project involves commissioning support.
