Job summary

HealthMark Group seeks an experienced Controller to lead the accounting function from its Dallas area offices. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will own monthly close, GAAP compliance, financial reporting, and internal controls while guiding payroll, tax, and treasury activities.

You will build scalable processes in a fast-growing PE-backed environment, drive continuous improvement, and oversee audits and external partners to ensure timely, accurate financial statements and strong governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting from a four-year accredited university.
• Public accounting experience required.
• Experience at a private equity-backed company a plus.
• 8+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience including senior leadership.
• Based in the Dallas–Fort Worth area or able to work in-office part-time.
• Strong US GAAP and tax regulatory knowledge.
• Clear communication, deadline orientation, and multi-project management.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Direct all aspects of the accounting function including cash management, reconciliations, AR/AP, financial reporting, balance sheet, and close.
• Lead accounting operations and financial controls in a private-equity backed environment.
• Oversee payroll function with compliance and coordination with HR.
• Provide GAAP guidance and technical accounting support to executives and the board.
• Assist with transactional accounting, treasury, and projected tax estimates with external partners.
• Review monthly/quarterly reconciliations and GAAP adherence.
• Ensure correct revenue recognition timing and policy application.
• Develop financial strategies aligned with company goals.
• Coordinate external audits and 401(k) plan audit activities.
• Oversee hiring, development, and performance of accounting staff.
• Drive process improvements and system enhancements (NetSuite, Ramp).
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
