Job summary

American Heritage Credit Union is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting function and supervise the staff in delivering high-quality financial services to members and associates.

The role encompasses budgeting, audits, financial statement interpretation, and reporting to executive management. Requires 5–8 years in accounting management and a CPA license, with strong GAAP knowledge and supervisory capability.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of experience in accounting management or related financial role.
• 3–5 years of supervisory experience required.
• CPA license required; GAAP knowledge essential.
• Equivalent college degree in Accounting/Finance with professional certification or graduate degree accepted.
• Advanced PC skills: Word, Excel, MS Outlook; familiarity with Symitar.

Responsibilities

• Direct accounting functions and oversee daily Accounting staff to ensure service quality.
• Review and disseminate all financial and statistical reporting.
• Assist CFO with budgeting, audits, and financial planning/reporting for management and CUSOs.
• Manage month-end close, accruals, settlement, and general ledger activity.
• Oversee mortgage accounting and related reporting for the organization and CUSOs.
• Coordinate audits with regulators and auditors; respond to findings and implement recommendations.
• Support mergers-related accounting activities and maintain GL reconciliations.
