Job summary

Salem Academy and College in Winston-Salem seeks a Controller to lead the accounting and financial reporting functions, ensuring GAAP compliance and strong internal controls across general ledger, payroll, grants, and financial systems.

Reporting to the Vice President for Finance/CFO, the role directs audits, budget development, multi-year forecasting, treasury management, and collaboration with campus leaders to support strategic mission and responsible stewardship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• CPA designation preferred; nonprofit/ Higher Education knowledge a plus.
• Minimum eight years accounting/financial management experience with leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for accounting, financial reporting, treasury, and audits.
• Oversee general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and month-end close.
• Coordinate annual external audits and Single Audit; respond to auditor requests.
• Develop budgets, forecasts, and financial models aligned with mission and policy.
