Job summary

NOW CFO is seeking an experienced Controller Consultant to provide senior accounting leadership to Bay Area clients. You will lead month-end, close, reporting, and internal controls while partnering with CEOs, CFOs, and owners on financial decisions.

This hybrid, client-facing role offers a base salary of $150,000 to $180,000 and travel as engagements require. Construction/project accounting experience is valued across industries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Significant controller or senior accounting leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of month-end close, GAAP, and financial operations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Controller level financial leader for multiple client organizations.
• Lead month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and general ledger activity.
• Partner directly with owners, CEOs, CFOs, and operational leaders on financial performance and decision making.
• Support construction and project-based clients with job costing, WIP reporting, revenue recognition, project margins, budgeting and cash flow.
• Prepare and review accurate GAAP-compliant financial statements.
• Strengthen accounting processes, internal controls, reporting and financial systems.
• Identify issues quickly and implement practical solutions.
• Remain hands on when needed, including journal entries, reconciliations, schedules and reporting.
• Support clients across industries including construction, real estate, technology, SaaS, manufacturing, professional services, distribution and nonprofit.
