Job summary

Metro Auto Auction Phoenix is seeking an experienced controller or assistant controller to lead the accounting team in a fast-paced auto auction environment in Phoenix, AZ. The role focuses on budgets, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance to support business performance.

The ideal candidate will have automotive experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work with department heads to drive profitability and ensure accurate tax filings.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years automotive accounting experience preferred
• Knowledge of dealership operations and automotive industry standards
• Experience in financial management, budgeting, and financial reporting
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred

Responsibilities

• Manage the daily operations and personnel of the accounting department
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets and financial statements
• Forecast financial goals and conduct regular audits to maintain business profitability
• Review financial statements/ledgers with accounting staff to clear up any discrepancies
• Meet with department managers to develop plans to increase profitability
• Ensure timely and compliant filing of local, state, & federal taxes (sales & payroll taxes)
