Job summary

Donlin Gold LLC in Anchorage seeks an experienced Senior Contracts Specialist to lead the development, negotiation, administration, and management of complex commercial agreements for a major capital project.

You will partner with Legal, Engineering, Project Controls, Finance, and Project Management to ensure contractual compliance, mitigate risk, and optimize supplier relationships, with a strong focus on commercial strategy and process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in contracts, procurement, supply chain, or commercial management.
  • Experience negotiating high-value EPC/EPCM, mining, industrial, or infrastructure contracts.
  • Demonstrated experience managing claims, disputes, contract amendments, and complex commercial negotiations.
  • Experience supervising or leading teams.
  • Experience supporting large capital projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial contracting principles and procurement practices.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong ability to identify and mitigate contractual and commercial risk.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and contract management systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and execute complex engineering, procurement, construction, consulting, service, and supply agreements.
  • Develop commercial strategies that appropriately allocate project risk and protect Company interests.
  • Lead commercial negotiations with vendors, suppliers, and service providers.
  • Partner with Legal, Engineering, Project Controls, Finance, and Project Management throughout the contracting process.
  • Evaluate legal and regulatory requirements and ensure contractual compliance prior to execution.
  • Customize contract terms to meet specific project, vendor, and business needs.
  • Support procurement activities including bid preparation, supplier evaluations, sourcing strategies, and contract awards.
  • Administer contract amendments, change orders, claims, disputes, and contract closeout.
  • Interpret contract provisions and advise project teams on contractual rights and obligations.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with contractual deliverables, insurance, bonding, and commercial requirements.
  • Identify contractual and commercial risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain accurate contract documentation and commercial records.
  • Mentor Contract Administrators and provide technical guidance on commercial matters.
  • Recommend improvements to contract management and procurement processes.

This is a key commercial role supporting engineering, procurement, construction, and operational activities as the Donlin Gold Project advances. The Senior Contracts Specialist will lead the development, negotiation, administration, and management of complex commercial agreements while serving as a trusted advisor to project teams. This position is ideal for an experienced contracts professional who understands how to balance commercial strategy, project risk, compliance, and strong supplier relationships in a large capital project environment.

What You’ll Do

What You’ll Bring
