Job summary

First 5 Alameda County is seeking a Director of Contracts and Procurement to lead the Agency's contracting and procurement functions in Alameda, CA. The role requires building strong contracting systems, ensuring compliance with funding requirements, and guiding staff across contract administration and procurement activities.

The position emphasizes policy development, vendor management, and performance monitoring, with a hybrid in-office schedule and a salary range aligned to public-sector

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years of procurement/contracting experience in public or private sector.
• Experience with grant-funded programs or highly regulated funding environments.
• Professional certification such as CPPO, CPPB, NIGP-CPP, CPSM, CPCM desirable.
• Travel within Alameda County to carry out job duties and occasional travel outside.

Responsibilities

• Lead procurement, contracting, and contract administration functions.
• Develop and improve contracting policies, procedures, systems, templates, and tools.
• Oversee competitive procurements, contract negotiations, contract execution, and vendor management.
• Partner with leadership and internal teams to develop effective contracting strategies.
• Monitor contract performance, compliance, budgets, and reporting; identify opportunities to improve processes.
• Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, funding requirements, and audit standards.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop staff; provide training across the Agency.
