Job summary

JP Logistics & Consulting, LLC is seeking a Senior Contract Specialist to support government contracting efforts in a fast-paced environment. This full-time telework role requires 5–8 years of relevant experience and deep knowledge of FAR/DFARS and wage determinations.

You will manage contract administration, coordination with HR/Finance/Operations, and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations while driving profitability and process improvements.

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Experience coordinating with HR/Finance/Operations is a plus.

JP Logistics & Consulting, LLC (JPLC) is looking for a full-time Senior Contract Specialist to work in the government arena supporting a unique and growing company in a fast-paced environment.

Start Date: TBD

Work Location: Telework

Salary: Negotiable- based on experience and knowledge.

Duty Hours: M-F 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Duties and Responsibilities: As the Senior Contract Specialist, you will be responsible for managing all contracts of the company. The Senior Contract Specialist must be very knowledgeable about the details and potential benefits of all contracts. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Contract Administration: awards, modifications, options, funding, POPs, deliverables, closeouts, correspondence, and contract files.

Compliance: FAR/DFARS, SCA, wage determinations, contract-specific requirements, and coordination with HR/Finance/Operations.

Financial/Contract Controls: CLIN funding, ceilings, invoice support, WAWF/IPP, burn rates, and reconciliation with Finance.

Business Support: proposal/RFP support, subcontract agreements, negotiations, pricing coordination, and risk identification.

  • Craft, evaluate, negotiate, and execute a wide variety of different duties and contract responsibilities covering a range of transactions within the government contracting arena.
  • Create and maintain relationships with customers, vendors, and suppliers and serve as the singular point of contact for matters concerning contracts.
  • Maintain records for correspondence and documentation in relation to established contracts and those in progress.
  • Communicate and present information to stakeholders about all contract-related matters.
  • Monitor contracts and move forward with close-out, extension, contract MODs, or renewal according to what's best for the company.
  • Solve any contract-related problems that may arise with other parties and internally with the company itself in a timely manner.
  • Excellent negotiating skills and entering agreements, i.e., subcontract agreements, etc.
  • Excellent knowledge of the details and potential benefits of contracts.
  • Be the leading advocate against waste and inefficiency in government and company spending.
  • Exhibit excellent professional skills in administering and negotiating contracts, preparing requests for proposals (RFPs), and supervising fulfillment of contract terms and conditions according to federal policies, regulations, and legislation.
  • Draw upon advanced training to make sound business decisions when analyzing, preparing, and executing government contracts.
  • Strong ability to exercise independent judgment to assess current procedures and develop new policies and processes.
  • Strong ability to interface with contract support staff and business unit managers, customer and supplier law departments, senior management, and outside counsel.
  • Performed other duties as required.
  • Familiar with government pay systems, i.e., WAWF, IPP, invoicing, etc.
  • Attention to detail and ability to process company billing/ invoicing.
  • Must be familiar with the SCA and wage determination (WD) rules of engagement.
  • Must be very knowledgeable of the DOL Regulations, FAR & DFAR regulations, to include at the state and local level.
  • Keen sense and ability to strategize and share knowledge with others.
  • Must exhibit teamwork and have the ability to be a quick learner.
  • Must adhere to schedules and timelines/ good time management.
  • Must be organized and have a keen sense of attention to detail.
  • Must be able to telework/ work independently without supervision.
  • Must be able to complete tasks in a timely manner.

Qualification: Must have 5-8 years of experience.

Complexity: The Senior Contract Specialist job in the government sector requires a strong foundation of specialized skills and knowledge, as well as a commitment to continuous improvement and protecting the company's interests and improving profitability.

Interface: Must have the ability to function as the lead contract specialist in all areas of a contract project, including control, interface with legal, billing, procurement, subcontracts, and pricing, i.e., IPP, WAWF monthly invoicing.
