Job summary

Woolpert, Inc. is seeking a Senior Consultant-Program & Product Development Design Manager to drive decarbonization and architectural productization for mission-critical projects across North America.

Based in part in Chicago, NYC, or Pittsburgh, the role supports hybrid/remote work and requires a senior leader who can guide client workshops, manage diverse teams, and deliver sophisticated design solutions in mass timber and data-center environments.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Architecture or Engineering.
  • 10+ years on complex projects focused on productization or decarbonization.
  • Mass timber detailing and prototyping knowledge.
  • Knowledge of mass timber supply chain and building codes.
  • Ability to lead client workshops and teams.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Experience developing detailed drawing packages.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategy development around decarbonizing data center equipment, systems, buildings, and campuses, communicating potential solutions.
  • Enhance client relationships to identify additional decarbonization opportunities within Mission Critical clients.
  • Represent Woolpert as an industry leader in decarbonization strategy and mass timber design, construction, and supply chains.
  • Manage project teams of varying sizes and expertise to support these goals.

Position Overview

Woolpert is an award-winning global architectural practice focused on performance-driven, highly complex facilities for some of the world's largest technology clients. We blend applied research, strategic thinking, and technology-driven design methods, seeking innovation to define the future of our profession and solve the most complex design problems. Our Mission Critical Program & Product Development (PPD) team works with global technology clients to develop innovative building products, systems, and assemblies through strategic design and productization.

We are seeking a Senior Consultant-Program & Product Development Design Manager who is highly motivated and skilled with experience in decarbonization strategy and architectural productization. This position is aligned with our offices located in Chicago, IL; New York City, NY; and Pittsburgh, PA, and supports full-time in-person/hybrid and remote working arrangements. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position; applicants must already possess work authorization in the country where the job is located.

What You Will Do
  • Lead strategy development around decarbonizing data center equipment, systems, buildings, and campuses, working with clients to identify goals, define project scope, and communicate potential solutions to complex design challenges.
  • Enhance existing client relationships to identify and initiate additional project opportunities within the Mission Critical client base for decarbonization strategies, including collaboration with and integration in building and product design.
  • Demonstrate industry-leading expertise and represent Woolpert as an industry leader in decarbonization strategy and mass timber building design, construction, and supply chains with new and existing clients.
  • Manage project teams of various scales and expertise in support of the above.
What You Will Bring
  • Education: Advanced Degree in Architecture or Engineering.
  • Experience: 10+ years working on complex projects, with a focus on productization, decarbonization and/or mass timber.
  • Strong knowledge of architectural/engineering detailing and systems, including mass timber detailing and prototyping.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, processes, and building codes.
  • Knowledge of mass timber supply chain and industry standards, as well as willingness and ability to learn new supply chains and cultivate industry connections.
  • Experience developing detailed drawing packages.
  • Strategic design and leadership skills, including leading client workshops.
  • Excellent collaboration, written, and verbal skills.
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign is considered an asset, as well as experience with Google Docs/Sheets/Slides, Gemini/Copilot, and any software focused on carbon accounting such as OneClickLCA, Tally, c.scale, or EC3.

Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Pay Range: $139,200 — $174,000 USD
