Job Description - Senior Consultant, Pension & Benefits Administration & Technology Consulting (SP 000000BM)

Senior Consultant – Pension & Benefits Administration and Technology

Segal’s Administration and Technology Consulting (ATC) team collaborates with Multiemployer and Public Sector clients on a wide range of benefits administration and technology issues, including:

  • Strategic planning
  • Process re-engineering
  • Organizational design and recruitment
  • Design and implementation of benefit systems and technologies
  • Vendor selection and system implementation/post-implementation support

The Role

The Senior Consultant will work with practice colleagues and Segal staff to manage and support projects delivering consulting advice and solutions to clients, primarily focusing on public pension clients, with potential involvement in health benefit projects.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Managing client projects end-to-end, including planning, leading teams, and client interactions
  • Developing project plans and budgets, ensuring quality assurance
  • Providing expertise on benefits administration and technology issues
  • Serving as a subject matter expert in pension benefits administration areas such as enrollment, employer reporting, terminations, refunds, retirement processing, and retiree payroll
  • Overseeing vendor implementations and managing vendor relationships
  • Supporting business development activities to sell services and generate revenue
  • Using MS Teams and Smartsheet for project management following ATC standards
  • Contributing to practice development by researching trends and legislative changes, and supporting new service development

Specific assignments include:

  • Guiding clients on procurement of benefit administration systems and services
  • Providing oversight and quality assurance for system implementations
  • Assessing operational processes, organizational structures, and technology, with documentation of findings and recommendations
  • Developing implementation roadmaps, plans, and timelines with ongoing monitoring
  • Presenting project updates to trustees and executives

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have:

  • An undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in a business or quantitative discipline
  • At least 9 years of experience in public pension benefits administration or technology project management (PMP preferred)
  • Ability to work independently and in teams, with willingness to travel
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong project management, technical writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills
