JOB SUMMARY
This job partners and consults with colleagues, leaders, and departments across our organization to identify what information team members need to: understand our organization's mission, vision, and Core Behaviors; learn where Highmark Health is headed, why, and how. Responsible for developing engaging, clear, and concise messages, and building and executing communications plans that consider all internal audiences. Use primarily digital communications tools to connect with our audience using a voice that’s uncomplicated, uplifting, trusted, and conversational. Provide counsel to those you work with about the best communication practices and tactics that could reach the right audience outside of digital channels. Measure the impact of your communications using data analytics and use these insights to adapt your communications approaches as needed. Will be part of a matrixed team, regularly collaborating with a group, and be able to work independently.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as a communications consultant and partner with colleagues, leaders, and various departments to decide what needs to be communicated across our organization. Determine the most effective ways to reach internal audiences with these messages.
- Contribute to and manage small to medium projects within the assigned area. Develop and execute internal communications plans for special projects or corporate campaigns. These assignments are broad in scope and require depth of knowledge as well as creativity.
- Plan, research, write, edit, and deliver business and job-related information using digital communications tools (intranets, microsites, emails, key messages, talking points, etc.) to inform team members about our organization's mission, vision, Core Behaviors, strategy, policies, initiatives, and events.
- Measure the success of your communications efforts using data from tools such as Google Analytics, SharePoint, and Poppulo, as well as through anecdotal feedback and other metrics that are available to you.
- Provide counsel to those you work with about the best communication practices and tactics to reach the right audience. This includes digital and non-digital channels and tactics.
- On an ongoing basis, meet with matrixed partners, ensure that messages support Highmark Health’s mission, vision, and strategy, and that internal messages align with external messages.
- Be available, when needed, to respond to internal crisis communication needs.

EDUCATION
- Required Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field.
- Substitutions 6 years of relevant, progressive experience in the area of specialization

EXPERIENCE
- Required 5 years of Relevant progressive experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field.
- Experience working in health care/health insurance or a related field.
- Experience with editing and proofreading.
- Experience publishing to a SharePoint platform.
- Experience using and interpreting analytics using tools such as Google Analytics and building and analyzing surveys using tools such as Qualtrics.
- Understanding of desktop publishing (Photoshop, Illustrator) and Microsoft products (including Teams, SharePoint publishing, Excel).

- Knowledge of traditional and digital communications best practices, excellent communication, multitasking, organizational, research/interviewing, writing, grammar, and interpersonal skills
- Strong influence management skills preferred with focus on building strong internal client relationships
- Possesses and applies a broad and in-depth knowledge of the concepts, principles, practices, and processes of the specific field or discipline. Possesses significant expertise to complete assignments and ability to visualize, articulate, and solve problems
- Self-starter with the ability to work under pressure independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of media relations strategy, including social media, and aligning internal and external messaging
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, and leadership techniques
- Knowledge of grammar and AP (Associated Press) and corporate style writing
