Job summary

Sigma Earth is seeking an Environmental Compliance Engineer to develop emission inventories and permit applications, and to prepare compliance reports for clients in Arizona. The role requires interpreting environmental regulations, coordinating with regulators, and conducting field assessments.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience, a relevant degree, and strong skills in Excel and PowerPoint.

What You’ll Bring

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, environmental, or civil engineering, environmental science, or a related field.
• 3+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Working knowledge of local, state, and federal air quality programs, including Title V and RECLAIM.
• Experience in environmental consulting or industry, with familiarity with regulatory agencies such as SCAQMD and other local air districts, along with state and federal programs.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, stay adaptable, travel when required, and work independently with minimal oversight.
• Strong capability to interpret and apply environmental regulations and agency guidance.
• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly advanced skills in PowerPoint and Excel.
• Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines.
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to work with global teams.
• Positive, proactive attitude with a focus on delivering high-quality client service and contributing to business growth.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing experience.

Preferred

• Experience working with regulatory agencies such as Maricopa County Air Quality, Pima/Pinal County Districts, Arizona DEQ, or other Southwest regulators.
• Strong technical expertise in emissions inventories, permitting, and compliance evaluations; familiarity with pollution control systems is advantageous.
• Knowledge of water, wastewater, and waste management programs.
• Field experience in air compliance monitoring, inspections, and permitting; additional experience with stormwater inspections, SWPPP updates, HMBP preparation, or wastewater permits is a plus.
• Strong ability to interpret environmental regulations and guidance documents.
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and computational skills.
• Proven experience managing projects and building long-term client relationships.
• Advanced MS Office capabilities, especially in PowerPoint and Excel.
