Job summary

Integral Consulting Inc. is seeking a senior or principal-level air quality scientist/engineer to lead technical delivery and grow a national air quality practice.

The role involves managing complex permitting projects, engaging with clients, and mentoring a team while pursuing business development opportunities across the U.S. The successful candidate will have a strong track record in regulatory compliance, project delivery, and cross-practice collaboration, with opportunities for leadership

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in chemical engineering, environmental engineering, physics, chemistry, meteorology, atmospheric sciences, or similar field.
• 10+ years of experience in program/project management within an air quality practice.
• Proven ability to grow a national air quality practice and lead multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical delivery of air quality permitting and compliance projects including NSR, PSD, Nonattainment, Title V, and CEQA/NEPA.
• Support business development and client meetings; mentor staff and recruit as needed.

About the job

We are currently seeking a senior consultant or principal-level scientist or engineer to support our growing air quality practice in our Toxicology, Health, and Economic Sciences business area. The position will support multiple clients on a diverse set of air quality projects throughout the U.S. Expectations include strategic project plan development, project management and delivery, direct client communications, and business development activities. The successful candidate will be adept at technical writing and presenting and/or publishing their work through science conferences and peer-reviewed journals. Integral’s senior consultants and principals are leaders in the business, with clients, and within our teams. They are recognized both internally and externally for their technical expertise and strategic knowledge in one or more areas. Senior consultants typically achieve more than $400,000 in individual allocated net revenue. Principals have an annual goal of generating more than $1.25 million in individual net revenue through a combination of independent and collaborative business development efforts. Prior consulting experience is required.

This position may offer in-office, remote, or hybrid opportunities based on the candidate’s location and the needs of the organization.

Responsibilities

Your job functions will include but not be limited to:

• Leading technical delivery of air quality permitting and compliance projects associated with the federal major New Source Review (NSR) preconstruction permitting program including Prevention of Significant Deterioration and Nonattainment NSR, the federal Title V operating permit program, state and local minor source permit programs, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and related state programs, such as the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
• Serving in a collaborative leadership role to ensure technical delivery and growth of the air quality practice.
• Leading or participating in client and regulatory agency meetings.
• Collaborating with personnel in other business practices within Integral to facilitate cross selling of services and to successfully deliver multidisciplinary client solutions under regulatory programs such as NEPA, CEQA, and CERCLA as well as transactional due diligence, full environmental permitting across a range of permitting agencies, and ESG strategy support.
• Managing the budget, quality, and delivery for air quality projects.
• Supervising and mentoring technical staff.
• Assisting with recruiting.
• Promoting a collegial and safe workplace environment.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

Candidates should hold an advanced degree in chemical engineering, environmental engineering, physics, chemistry, meteorology, atmospheric sciences, or similar field. The ideal candidate will have:

• 10+ years of experience in program/project management within an air quality practice
• Demonstrated proficiency in assisting clients with regulatory compliance within multiple national and state regulatory programs
• Experience and understanding of air quality consulting in a broad array of market sectors, including commercial, industrial, and governmental, and the ability to capture market share within these sectors
• A strong desire to develop and maintain client networks and long-standing working relationships
• Experience with program level leadership, project team management, and project delivery
• Ability to delegate and manage project tasks efficiently and effectively to project support team members
• A willingness to mentor junior staff in career growth
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• A desire to grow both intellectually and professionally
• Strong organizational abilities
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers.

Compensation is commensurate with experience and internal equity, within the listed range.
