Who You Are

This role is based within James Vincent Group, a specialized accounting and advisory firm that is now part of Numera. We are seeking a Senior Consultant to join our dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to lead and contribute to critical accounting operations, support client engagements, and help strengthen internal financial controls.

• The position is remote, with a preference for candidates based in Arizona.

What You'll Do

1. Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
2. Produce error-free accounting reports and present them effectively.
3. Analyze financial information and summarize financial data.
4. Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and accuracy.
5. Provide technical support and advice on management accounting.
6. Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
7. Manage accounting assistants and coordinate team activities.
8. Participate in financial standards setting and in the forecast process.
9. Provide input into the department's goal-setting and strategic planning.
10. Prepare financial statements and produce budgets according to organizational standards.
11. Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance and accuracy.
12. Plan, assign, and review the staff's work and performance.
13. Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
14. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
15. Ensure compliance with GAAP and GASB principles.
16. Liaise with clients and internal staff to improve financial processes and communication.

What You Bring

• 6+ years proven experience as a financial controller, accounting supervisor, or senior accountant.
• US CPA or relevant certification (e.g., CMA) (Required).
• Governmental accounting or audit experience: 2 years (Required).
• Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures.
• In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) (Required).
• Familiarity with financial accounting statements.
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end / year-end process close.
• Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, like QuickBooks.
• Advanced MS Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills.
• BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field (Required).

What We Offer

Salary range: $100k-150k/year (inclusive of a 10% performance bonus)
