Starr Indemnity & Liability Company is seeking an Underwriter to join the Construction team in the LA Office. The role will underwrite and manage growth, primarily in Southern California and across the West Coast.

The ideal candidate has 5–8 years of construction underwriting experience and strong broker relationships. Qualifications include technical casualty underwriting capabilities, proven sales and business development skills, and excellence in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years' experience underwriting mid to large construction accounts
• Must have relationships with construction brokers
• Proven technical casualty underwriting capabilities
• Proven sales and business development skills in a dynamic marketplace
• Proven cross-marketing abilities
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Bachelor's degree preferred

Responsibilities

• Develop and service the West Coast construction portfolio with focus on Southern California
• Solicit submissions and perform underwriting analysis
• Prepare indications, quotations and binders
• Mentor and train staff and track the new business pipeline
