Carlson Bros. Inc. in Jacksonville, IL is seeking a Construction Superintendent to lead day-to-day field operations on large commercial, public works, and multi-family projects.

You will coordinate subcontractors, manage schedules, and ensure safety, quality, and on-time completion. You will work with Project Management, inspectors, and trades, and take ownership of field performance from mobilization to closeout.

Qualifications

• 7–15+ years of commercial construction field experience.
• Proven experience as a Superintendent or lead field role.
• Experience in commercial, municipal, public safety, or multifamily construction.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, coordination, and site logistics.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Experience with fire & rescue facilities, civic buildings, and multi-family projects is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead all on-site construction activities from mobilization through closeout, keeping the jobsite organized, efficient, and well planned.
• Coordinate subcontractors, manage short-term schedules, and maintain steady progress toward project milestones.
• Identify and address issues early, whether related to coordination, sequencing, or site logistics, and keep work moving without unnecessary disruption.
• Enforce jobsite safety requirements, lead regular safety meetings, and maintain a clean, compliant work environment.
• Monitor work as it's installed, coordinate inspections, and ensure the finished product meets plans and specifications.
• Communicate clearly with the Project Management team, inspectors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to keep the project on track.
