Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking a Superintendent I/II to coordinate, plan, and supervise assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities across a discipline. Compensation is determined by experience and location; the ad notes positions at two levels to match qualifications.

The role emphasizes safety, quality, risk management, and customer service, with responsibilities spanning schedule development, document review, and team development.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management or related field is required or 10+ years of trade experience.
• Current driver's license and ability to travel up to 100% are required.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills and strong customer service abilities are essential.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement to ensure materials, equipment, and inspections support project schedule.
• Review construction documents for completeness and constructability; coordinate plans with design engineers.
• Develop and manage project schedule and site logistics; collaborate with project partner superintendents.
• Coach, supervise, and develop team members; conduct orientations, planning sessions, site meetings; interview/hire/transfer/dismiss team members.
• Ensure proper task coding; lead and track work progress; conduct career development discussions.
• Build effective relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels; lead by example with coaching and feedback.
• Provide high-level management of safety, quality, risk, and compliance; seek process improvements.
