Job summary

Spencer Ogden is seeking a seasoned Construction Safety Manager to lead site safety programs for heavy construction projects in Wisconsin. You will ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, conduct inspections, manage training, investigate incidents, and coordinate with clients and subcontractors.

This role requires travel to project sites and a strong track record of reducing incidents. A Bachelor’s or equivalent experience is preferred, with strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of construction safety, general industry safety, or construction management experience with a Bachelor’s degree; equivalent experience accepted with an Associate degree or high school diploma.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA Construction and General Industry regulations.
• Familiarity with ANSI, NIOSH, Army Corps of Engineers EM 385-1, and NEC standards.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Construction certification required.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites and work varying schedules.
• Heavy construction and utility safety experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage site Safety & Health programs for heavy construction projects.
• Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, local, state, and federal safety regulations.
• Conduct jobsite inspections, safety assessments, walkthroughs, and audits.
• Identify safety risks and implement corrective actions before and during construction activities.
• Work with project management, clients, and subcontractors to address safety concerns and maintain compliance.
• Lead and document safety training related to project activities.
• Review and investigate near misses, property damage, environmental incidents, and accidents.
• Manage work stoppages when conditions present an immediate danger to life or health.
• Maintain safety records, daily reports, documentation, and audit-ready files.
• Communicate safety findings, recommendations, and corrective actions to project leadership.
• Help develop and implement best practices to maintain a goal of zero safety incidents.
• Travel to various project sites as needed.
