Job summary

ERM is seeking a Principal Technical Consultant in Construction Safety to lead EHS programs on large capital projects from planning through turnover. Based in Indianapolis, IN (or other locations), you will mentor teams, shape safety culture, and partner with clients to integrate Safety-by-Design and risk-based decision making.

Qualifications

• Developed and transformed EHS management systems for large capital projects.
• Influence executives and deliver strategic safety recommendations.
• Bachelor’s degree in safety, engineering or related field.
• 6–8+ years of capital project EHS experience.
• Experience with Safety in Design and risk reviews.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and high-risk controls.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate program effectiveness and drive improvement across all project phases.
• Lead Safety-by-Design integration and risk-based decisions.
• Develop scalable EHS frameworks and governance tools.
• Advise on contractor safety governance and operational readiness.
• Conduct field audits and verify critical safety controls.
• Support commissioning, startup, and turnover with safety planning.
