Job summary

Gilbane Building Company is seeking a Sr. Purchasing Agent to lead the purchasing process for mega-projects or multiple projects in Detroit, MI. You will manage bid and contract cycles, identify market conditions, and support DOSB initiatives while partnering with operations and risk teams.

The role emphasizes leadership in procurement, negotiation, and collaboration with trade partners, vendors, and project teams to ensure safe, on-time project delivery and compliant purchasing practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar technical field.
• 8+ years of experience managing/purchasing/procuring work of construction Trade Contractors.
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage bid process for multiple projects from kickoff to award, including bid package strategy and review.
• Manage contract process: prepare contracts, procurement change orders, and contract terms.
• Identify market conditions, trade contractors, and costs.
• Develop DOSB utilization strategies during preconstruction.
• Develop relationships with trade contractors and vendors and support customers.
