Job description

Job Summary:

The Senior Project Manager is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing multiple or complex construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. This role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. The Senior PM leads cross-functional teams, fosters client relationships, mentors junior staff, and contributes to organizational growth through operational excellence and business development.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead pre-construction planning with internal teams and Estimators to align project scope, schedule, and budget with company goals.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain master project schedules; proactively identify and resolve delays and risks.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between clients, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders; ensure exceptional client experience throughout project lifecycle.
  • Negotiate and administer subcontractor agreements; ensure compliance with contractual obligations and quality standards.
  • Direct day-to-day construction operations, including resource allocation, labor management, procurement, cost control, and logistics planning.
  • Conduct high-level project reviews, monitor KPIs, and generate executive-level reports for internal and client distribution.
  • Manage change orders, RFIs, and submittals, ensuring thorough documentation and timely execution.
  • Champion job site safety, enforce OSHA and company safety policies, and promote a culture of zero incidents.
  • Monitor and manage project financials; oversee forecasting, job cost reporting, and profit margin analysis.
  • Represent the company with external stakeholders including clients, regulatory agencies, vendors, and community partners.
  • Mentor and coach Project Managers, Assistant PMs, and other field staff; support professional development across teams.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic initiatives, manpower forecasting, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Participate in contract negotiations and project pursuits; assist with proposal development and client presentations.
  • Ensure company policies, procedures, and best practices are consistently followed.
  • Uphold confidentiality and represent the company with integrity and professionalism.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proven leadership and mentorship skills; ability to manage teams across multiple projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction processes, project controls, scheduling software Microsoft, Procore, and financial reporting tools.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills; capable of building consensus among diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to perform under pressure, prioritize effectively, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong business acumen with a track record of delivering profitable and high-quality projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and project management platforms.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex architectural and engineering drawings.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred not required.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years’ experience in project management with progressively increasing responsibility.
  • Demonstrated success managing large-scale or multi-site construction projects.
  • Valid North Carolina Driver’s License.

The physical requirements for an office job typically include the ability to sit for extended periods, use a computer and other office equipment, and occasionally lift or carry office supplies up to 20 pounds. The role may require occasional standing, walking, or bending to file documents, attend meetings, or move between office areas. Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods; regular travel to job sites required. Ability to safely navigate active construction environments, including uneven surfaces and elevated areas. Occasionally lift and carry materials or equipment up to 25 lbs. Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with moderate to high noise levels.
