Position Overview

The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Borough Based Jails (BBJ) Division, seeks a Senior Construction Project Manager. Responsibilities include managing complex capital projects, reviewing project proposals, coordinating with Sponsor Agencies, overseeing projects from conception to close-out, developing schedules, supervising staff, and liaising with various agencies to ensure project success.

Minimum Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent + 5 years of relevant experience managing projects of at least $300,000 each; or
2. High school diploma + 1 year of experience + a bachelor’s degree in relevant fields; or
3. High school diploma + 1 year of experience + a valid professional license; or
4. High school diploma + 2 years of experience + education equivalent to 5 years of experience; or

Driver License Requirement

Must possess a valid NY driver’s license and maintain it throughout employment. Disqualifications may apply for moving violations or license suspensions.

Level-Specific Requirements

Additional experience is required for Level II and Level III positions, including specific years of full-time experience and valid driver’s license for Level III.

Preferred Skills

At least six years of experience in complex construction project management, schedule and cost management, along with strong organizational and communication skills.
