Job summary

Pointer Construction Group, LLC is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead complex commercial and federal construction projects in Fort Lauderdale. You will supervise field and admin activities, drive financial success, and maintain high-quality standards.

You will mentor junior staff, oversee preconstruction, budgeting, and permitting, and ensure safe, compliant project execution. A strong GC background and travel readiness are required.

Qualifications

• 10+ years managing commercial, government, or federal construction projects.
• Experience with a formal General Contractor.
• Strong constructability knowledge and ability to read plans.
• Proficient in construction management software systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and multitasking.

Responsibilities

• Direct project administrative and operational activities to ensure on-time, on-budget completion.
• Oversee preconstruction setup, budgets, purchasing, and permitting.
• Track data, cost reports, and submittals using CM software.
• Manage payments, schedules of values, and cost projections.
• Lead field inspections, safety, and contract compliance; run progress meetings.
• Mentor junior project team members including engineers and coordinators.

Job Overview

• Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL (20% travel required)

The Opportunity

You will serve as a pivotal field and administrative leader, overseeing complex commercial and federal construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout. In this role, you will drive project financial success, foster stakeholder relationships, and mentor junior project management staff. You will work with an integrity-driven organization that values delivering superior quality and supporting long-term professional growth.

How You Will Make An Impact

• Direct all project administrative and operational activities to ensure on-time, within-budget completion.


• Manage preconstruction setup, budget estimates, subcontractor purchasing, and permitting.


• Track project data, change orders, cost reports, and submittals using Trimble ProjectSight and Spectrum software.


• Oversee financial health by preparing schedules of values, applications for payment, and cost projection worksheets.


• Conduct regular field inspections to ensure safety, contract compliance, and high quality standards.


• Conduct project progress meetings with owners, architects, subcontractors, and superintendents.


• Mentor and guide junior project team members, including Project Engineers and Administrators.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• 10 years of experience managing commercial, government, or federal construction projects.


• Proven experience working with a formal General Contractor.


• Strong technical constructability knowledge and expertise reading construction documents and plans.


• Proficiency in construction management software systems.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong multi-tasking abilities.


• Valid Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.


• OSHA, Fall Protection, Lift, or relevant safety certifications.


• Demonstrated history of successfully mentoring and developing junior team members.
