Job summary

Contegra Construction Co in Edwardsville, IL seeks a Senior Construction Project Manager to lead delivery of large, complex commercial, industrial, manufacturing, distribution, and design-build projects from preconstruction through closeout.

You will guide multiple project teams, mentor staff, and ensure on-schedule, on-budget delivery to Contegra’s high standards, while building lasting client partnerships and supporting business development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive project management experience in commercial construction.
  • Experience delivering large, complex commercial, industrial, manufacturing, distribution, or design-build projects.
  • Experience leading multiple concurrent projects and mentoring project management teams.
  • Design-build experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of contracts, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and risk mitigation.
  • Proven ability to lead negotiations and drive project outcomes.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple complex construction projects from preconstruction through final completion and warranty.
  • Provide strategic leadership for project planning, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, contract administration, and execution.
  • Oversee project financial performance, including forecasting, profitability, cost control, billing, and risk management.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with owners, architects, engineers, consultants, and stakeholders.
  • Partner with Superintendents to align field operations with goals, schedules, and quality expectations.
  • Lead executive-level project meetings and serve as primary client contact.
  • Identify risks early and implement proactive solutions protecting schedule, budget, and client satisfaction.
  • Guide teams through RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay apps, and documentation.
  • Support preconstruction with conceptual budgeting, VE, constructability reviews, and planning.
  • Mentor Project Managers and engineers while fostering collaboration and growth.
  • Support business development through client presentations and pursuits.

Senior Construction Project Manager

August 2026 | Contegra Construction is looking for an experienced Senior Construction Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of large, complex commercial, industrial, manufacturing, distribution, and design-build construction projects while serving as a trusted leader for clients, project teams, and the organization.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will provide strategic oversight from preconstruction through project closeout, guiding multiple project teams, mentoring Project Managers and Project Engineers, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to Contegra’s high standards of quality.

What you’ll do:
  • Lead multiple complex construction projects from preconstruction through final completion and warranty.

  • Mentor Project Managers, Project Engineers, and emerging leaders while fostering collaboration and professional growth.
  • Support business development efforts by participating in client presentations, interviews, project pursuits, and repeat business opportunities.
  • Champion continuous improvement by promoting best practices in safety, quality, project delivery, and client service.

  • Proficiency with construction management software including Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and scheduling software.
Work Environment:

This position combines office-based leadership with regular visits to active construction sites, client offices, and project meetings. Travel throughout the region is expected to support project teams and maintain strong client relationships. Occasional extended hours may be required during key project milestones or critical phases of construction.
