Description

We are ERock!

ERock is a leader and innovator in distributed energy. ERock has responded to long-term trends in electricity by becoming the first smart-grid supplier to US energy consumers. The company installs, operates, and integrates its highly flexible, low-cost, and quick-response distributed generation to increase reliability and stability, reduce costs and decrease carbon footprint.

At ERock, our backup generators ensure that customers will never be without power, allowing their business to operate normally when there is an outage in the area. Our innovative approach provides customers with highly reliable, ultra-clean backup generation at a fraction of the cost of traditional backup solutions. We seek those who share our commitment to customer service, innovation, and ingenuity.

Requirements
  • Own and manage the estimating function supporting customer proposals and commercial opportunities, including development of accurate, timely, and comprehensive project cost estimates.
  • Serve as a customer-facing commercial and estimating resource, participating in customer discovery, qualification, technical, and proposal discussions to understand requirements, ask effective clarifying questions, and support development of solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Develop project estimates incorporating equipment, materials, labor, subcontractor, and other applicable project cost components, working directly with customers, Sales, Proposal Management, Engineering, EPC, Supply Chain, Finance, and other stakeholders to translate customer requirements into executable project scope and cost assumptions.
  • Present and explain estimates, cost drivers, scope assumptions, risks, and alternatives in a clear and credible manner to customers and internal stakeholders, while identifying gaps or areas requiring additional clarification.
  • Review customer contracts, RFP terms, and other commercial documents from a pricing and estimating perspective; identify provisions that may affect project scope, cost, schedule, risk, or execution assumptions; and coordinate with Sales, Legal, Structuring, Engineering, and EPC to ensure those impacts are reflected in the estimate and commercial approach.
  • Build trusted relationships with customers and internal business partners through strong interpersonal skills, responsiveness, active listening, and a practical, solutions-oriented approach.
  • Establish, document, and continuously improve standardized estimating processes, methodologies, tools, templates, and controls to improve estimate quality, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain historical cost information, estimating benchmarks, labor assumptions, equipment costs, and other reference data used to support project estimates.
  • Manage estimating activities and priorities across active opportunities to ensure estimating deliverables align with proposal schedules, customer requirements, and internal approval timelines.
  • Support complex, strategic, and non-standard opportunities through development of appropriate estimating approaches and cost models.
  • Analyze estimated versus actual project costs and incorporate lessons learned into future estimates, assumptions, and estimating methodologies.
  • Develop metrics and reporting to measure estimating workload, turnaround time, accuracy, and other key performance indicators.
  • Identify opportunities to improve estimating automation, data quality, processes, and tools to support increased proposal volume and organizational scalability.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for estimating methodologies, cost assumptions, and estimating practices across the Pricing & Proposals organization.
  • Build the foundation for a scalable estimating function and, if additional estimating resources are added, provide leadership, onboarding, coaching, and performance oversight.
  • Other responsibilities as directed by supervisor.
Basic (Required) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in estimating, project pricing, construction estimating, cost engineering, project management, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience independently developing and reviewing project estimates, including equipment, material, labor, subcontractor, and other project cost components.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with customers in a commercial, project, estimating, engineering, or similar environment, with the ability to understand customer needs and translate them into project scope and pricing requirements.
  • Experience reviewing customer contracts, RFP terms, or other commercial agreements as part of a pricing, estimating, project, or commercial role, with the ability to identify and communicate provisions that affect scope, cost, schedule, risk, and pricing assumptions.
