Job summary

American Structurepoint, Inc. seeks a Construction Project Engineer to lead inspections and coordination across transportation and utility projects in Northeast Ohio.

The role requires a PE license and extensive experience with ODOT standards, ensuring quality and compliance on complex sites. The position entails field supervision, documentation, RFIs, and close collaboration with contractors, designers, and residents, with duties ranging from technical reviews to client meetings and pay

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Civil Engineering or related degree is required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
• 15+ years of transportation/utility construction inspection experience.
• Extensive knowledge of ODOT standards and specifications.
• ODOT prequalification is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specs and standards.
• Must be able to work outdoors in varying temperatures.
• Physical ability to lift, carry and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Inspect construction work to document conformity to standards and specifications.
• Coordinate between contractors, designers, utilities and local residents.
• Maintain field observation records, daily reports, and measurements for payment.
• Perform material sampling and testing (soil, compaction, concrete).
• Prepare pay estimates and change orders for clients.
• Assist other project staff with problem-solving and feedback.
• Review construction documents for constructability issues and provide feedback.
• Respond to RFIs from contractors and stakeholders.
• Represent the firm at meetings; lead client coordination; prepare meeting minutes.
• Utilize Microsoft Office, Appia, AASHTOWare and BlueBeam.
• Other duties as assigned.
