Job summary

Vanir is seeking a detail-oriented Construction Project Accountant to support a large-scale state-funded construction project in Chicago. You will manage job cost tracking, invoicing, budgeting, forecasting and reporting, ensuring compliance and accurate cost capture.

The role requires 5+ years in construction accounting, proficiency with Primavera P6/Procore/Autodesk, and strong project controls knowledge. This on-site position offers comprehensive benefits and career growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 5+ years of experience in construction or project accounting on public/state-funded projects.
• Advanced Excel and strong analytical capabilities.
• Experience with government compliance, audits, and reporting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage all project-related accounting functions: job cost, invoicing, budgeting and reporting.
• Monitor costs to ensure alignment with budgets and funding requirements.
• Track and validate change orders for cost capture and budgeting.
• Prepare monthly cost reports, variances and cash flow projections for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with project managers, estimators and controls teams to maintain accuracy.
• Oversee subcontractor payments, invoices and change orders.
• Ensure compliance with state regulations and audit standards.
• Maintain documentation for audits and reporting; support funding draw requests.
