Job summary

Timmons Group is seeking a Senior Construction Materials Testing Engineering Technician for our Geotechnical and Construction Services Group in Richmond, VA. You will perform field tests on soil, asphalt and concrete, prepare detailed reports, and review project plans with senior staff.

The role requires a high school diploma, 3–5 years of related experience, and training on field and office equipment. Certifications like ACI/VDOT are a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3–5 years of related experience or training preferred.
• ACI certification for concrete is a plus, not required.
• VDOT certifications for soils, concrete and asphalt pavement are a plus, not required.
• Must have training on field equipment and office equipment used to generate data and reports.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, safety rules, manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to perform basic math for field/lab tests and calculations.

Responsibilities

• Perform field testing of soil, asphalt and concrete under supervision.
• Prepare detailed field reports with test results, observations and recommendations.
• Review project plans and specs to understand requirements.
• Perform basic lab tests on soil and concrete and report results.
• Ensure field/lab testing equipment is properly maintained.
• Maintain certifications as directed by senior staff.
• Assist with geotechnical investigations and site evaluations.
• Communicate test findings with clients and project team.
