What You'll Do

ECS Limited offers a unique opportunity for a talented and certified Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Senior Field Technician to join our Richmond team. We provide opportunities for professional development with additional incentives as you advance your skills and gain experience. In this role, you'll collaborate and develop with experienced project management professionals to safely perform a variety of tasks in the Field Services department.

Responsibilities
  1. Field Activities: Perform observation, testing, sampling, and inspection of materials including soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel placement on construction sites. Execute tasks based on project requirements under the guidance of senior technicians, staff professionals, and project managers.
  2. Testing Procedures: Conduct routine field tests for various materials using industry-standard methodologies and testing equipment, ensuring compliance.
  3. Data Collection: Perform calculations and data reduction based on sampling, test results, and inspections. Develop skills in documentation and prepare field reports detailing site observations.
  4. Communication: Maintain daily communication with site contractors, technicians, and project managers. Keep supervisors informed of site conditions and additional testing requests. Attend project meetings as needed.
  5. Training and Development: Receive training in ECS methodology for project observations, inspections, and testing. Document findings accurately following accepted engineering practices.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of related experience
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Current basic certifications and willingness to obtain two additional advanced certifications
  • OSHA 10 certification is a plus
  • Ability to lift 40-70 lbs multiple times a day and occasionally up to 85 lbs
  • Valid driver's license and insurance
  • Reliable transportation for job sites (mileage reimbursed)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Understanding of heavy construction safety practices
  • Proficiency with electronic devices
  • Strong math skills and ability to interpret plans
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office
