Job description

Who we are

At Ecosystem we believe we should be accountable for results. That’s why we've integrated engineering and construction, seeing our projects through from design concept to implementation and commissioning. And that’s how we can efficiently solve complex energy challenges in the built environment.

We have worked on projects at Adelphi University, Brown University and San Diego Padres Stadium.

What you will do

At Ecosystem, you won’t work on standard projects with off‑the‑shelf solutions. You’ll take on existing, energy‑intensive, and complex buildings—designed at a time when energy was inexpensive. Every mandate is unique and calls for technical rigor, curiosity, ownership mindset, and comfort with complexity. You’ll lead the implementation phase—from pre‑construction through day‑to‑day construction activities, delivery and close‑out—leveraging both your engineering technical background and your project management skills to deliver guaranteed outcomes in safety, client satisfaction, budget, and performance.

  • Challenge design assumptions and validate that solutions meet expected energy and performance outcomes.
  • Oversee on‑site construction operations, coordinating subcontractors, clients, and key stakeholders.
  • Drive project success within a highly integrated team working seamlessly from design through execution, with safety and quality always top of mind.
  • Act as the technical SME on site, solving complex challenges and identifying efficient, cost‑effective solutions.
  • Navigate change and scope evolution, balancing cost, schedule, technical performance, and team dynamics.
  • Propose, estimate, and present project upgrades to the client.
  • Take full ownership of construction execution, ensuring alignment with budget, schedule, and quality standards.
  • Deliver an exceptional client experience by owning the relationship, anticipating needs, building trust and driving operational outcomes beyond project deliverables.
Your profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent field.
  • 10+ years owning mechanical construction projects with strong mechanical delivery.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal), listening, and negotiating skills in English.
  • Knowledge and/or interest in energy systems in the built environment (boilers, chillers, and cogeneration plants).
  • Field‑based role with 4‑5 days/week on active project sites in NewEngland.
  • Approach problems by looking beyond surface‑level symptoms to uncover the true root causes.
  • Prefer innovative and original solutions over conventional, ready‑made solutions.
What Ecosystem offers

Annual base salary ranging from $140,000 to $190,000 depending on experience, technical expertise, and skillset, as well as geographic location.

  • 401(k) matching and comprehensive group insurance package (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, long‑term disability)—including a high‑deductible health plan (HDHP) option with no employee payroll deductions.
  • Paid time off per year: 10 public holidays, a minimum of 15 days of vacation, and 5 personal days. Paid time off from December25 to January1 when our offices close for the holiday period.
  • Atypical construction schedule averaging 45 hours per week.
  • Mileage reimbursement from home to site, with on‑site lunch expenses reimbursed.
  • Mentorship opportunities and unlimited professional training with no cap.
  • Thriving people‑first culture: we put our values in action in DEI, CSR, Innovation, and Social committees.
