Job summary

Qualus Corporation seeks a Senior Construction Manager to oversee electric transmission line and substation construction projects. You will manage contractor crews, coordinate safety compliance, and ensure alignment with client expectations and codes.

The role requires field decisions, site readiness, and ongoing contractor oversight across multiple crews. Ideal candidates bring 15+ years in electric infrastructure construction, OSHA knowledge, and proficiency with AS8/Atlas/Mobile Maps/MS

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of materials, construction standards, OSHA safety requirements for electric transmission line and substation construction.
  • In-depth knowledge of materials, construction standards, regulations (OSHA), and safety requirements for electric distribution and substation construction.
  • Working knowledge of electric operations and ability to obtain switching and outage authorization.
  • Proficiency with PC and job/work management applications including AS8, Atlas, Mobile Maps & MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Aggressively manages and inspects the day-to-day activities of multiple electric contractor crews, for substation and transmission line project work.
  • Facilitates the installation of electric infrastructure and ensures that all safety standards, company construction standards, company specifications and governmental regulations are met.
  • Manages work to ensure that all performance objectives for cycle time and cost are on target.
  • Oversees and directs contractors performing electric cable installations and electric cut-ins.
  • Makes the proper notification to all federal, state and local agencies before, during and after construction as required.
  • Prior to commencement of construction, coordinates with customers at the jobsite to determine specific customer requirements, construction sequencing and provides site readiness verification.
  • Maintains frequent and regular contact with contractor supervision regarding job performance and documents results appropriately.
  • Knowledgeable about distribution contracts.
  • Ensures that the terms and conditions of the contract and technical specifications are met.
  • Verifies key unit quantities.
  • Makes necessary field decisions regarding job changes and communicates them as necessary to the Supervisor and Program or Project Manager; documents all job changes to ensure compliance and ensures the updates get documented in the appropriate information technology systems.
  • Schedules and coordinates all required electric system outages.
  • Performs weekly safety audits of crews and documents performance in the Asset Suite Safety Audit/Observation Tool.
  • Coordinates permit and work-with requirements with third party utilities and permit agencies.
  • Reviews and approves all documents submitted by the contractor verifying the accuracy and completeness of the documentation.
  • Regularly communicates job status to the appropriate parties to facilitate scheduling commitments.
  • Maintains customer coordination during construction phase and conducts job walk-down with customer and contractor at job completion.
  • Performs storm duty assignments as needed.
  • Reports to service center, jobsite, or remote location.

Position Overview

Power your future with Qualus in our Program Management department as a Senior Construction Manager. The Senior Construction Manager is responsible for ensuring that constructability meets Qualus and our clients' expectations of the quality of each assigned project, to ensure compliance within required construction codes, local jurisdictional requirements. budgetary, scheduling, and safety goals.

Employees in this role must have electric utility scale substation, transmission line, and distribution line project experience, and they must have experience coordinating and managing construction work performed by contractors at the project site on behalf of our client. This position reports directly to the Project's PM and requires full integration and alignment with the client's representative.

Minimum Qualifications
