Job summary

Artheon seeks a Senior Construction Inspector to oversee heavy highway, bridge, and road projects in New Jersey. You will perform daily site inspections, material testing, and ensure compliance with plans, specs, and safety requirements.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree (preferred), NICET III, ACI/TCC/CCTC/NJSAT certifications, 5+ years of inspection experience on NJDOT/NJTA projects, OSHA 10, and proficiency with Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Night shifts and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Monitors contractor operations and verifies conformance with project plans and specifications.
• Serves as the on-site highway inspector for construction work performed by contractor and subcontractors.
• Interacts with site supervision to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
• Prepares daily reports, correspondence, change orders, payment estimates, and quantity computations.
• Observes work details, documents results, and collects photographic evidence.
• Ensures compliance with technical documents and industry standards and codes.
• Reviews field data and transfers it to the company server.
• Discusses projects with the project team daily.
• Makes accurate field judgments on construction activities.
• Will work night shifts and weekends as required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Description

Artheon is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Inspector to join our team working on projects located in the State of New Jersey for various state and regional agencies. Primary responsibilities will be inspecting heavy highway, bridge, and road projects to ensure contractors comply with project plans, specifications, and safety regulations. Key duties include daily site inspections, material testing, maintaining daily logs of materials and project progress, and ensuring compliance with Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT) standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Makes accurate judgment-calls on a variety of construction field activities

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering is preferred
• NICET Level III in Highway Construction certification is required
• ACI, TCC, CCTC, and NJSAT certifications required
• 5+ years of experience in heavy highway/bridge construction inspection
• Experience with NJDOT / NJTA projects required
• OSHA 10-hour safety course is required
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
