Job summary

Artheon is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Inspector to join our team on projects in New Jersey. You will inspect heavy highway, bridge, and road work to verify conformance with plans, specs, and safety regulations, while maintaining daily logs and MT P compliance.

The role requires on-site inspections, daily reporting, and coordination with contractors, with night shifts and weekend work as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering preferred.
• NICET Level III Highway Construction certification required.
• ACI, TCC, CCTC, and NJSAT certifications required.
• 5+ years in heavy highway/bridge construction inspection.
• Experience with NJDOT/NJTA projects required.
• OSHA 10-hour safety course required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor contractor operations for conformance with plans and specs.
• Serve as on-site highway inspector for contractor work.
• Collaborate with site supervision to ensure contract compliance.
• Prepare daily reports, change orders, and quantity computations.
• Document field activities with photos and accurate records.
• Ensure compliance with technical documents and standards.
• Input field data into laptops and upload to server.
• Discuss projects daily with project team.
• Make sound judgments on construction activities.

Primary responsibilities will be inspecting heavy highway, bridge, and road projects to ensure contractors comply with project plans, specifications, and safety regulations. Key duties include daily site inspections, material testing, maintaining daily logs of materials and project progress, and ensuring compliance with Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT) standards.

Responsibilities

• Monitors contractor operations and verifying conformance with project plans and specifications
• Serves as the on-site highway inspector for construction work performed by the contractor and subcontractors
• Interacts with the construction contractor’s site supervision on field activities to ensure compliance with the construction contract requirements
• Prepares daily reports, correspondence, change orders, periodic payment estimates, and quantity computations
• Observes details of work performed by others, documenting results; obtaining photographic documentation of work performed
• Confirms compliance with technical documents and industry-specific standards and codes
• Reviews and downloads field data into laptop computer and transfer to company server
• Discusses projects with project team on a daily basis
• Makes accurate judgment-calls on a variety of construction field activities
• Will work night shifts and weekends, as required

  Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering is preferred
  • NICET Level III in Highway Construction certification is required
  • ACI, TCC, CCTC, and NJSAT certifications required
  • 5+ years of experience in heavy highway/bridge construction inspection
  • Experience with NJDOT / NJTA projects required
  • OSHA 10-hour safety course is required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good time-management skills
  • Ability to perform under pressure
  • Good skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • A strong attention to detail is necessary
