Job summary

CMTS, LLC is seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to support Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) as part of its Quality Assurance & Construction Inspection Division. The role provides civil construction inspection across LAWA’s Capital Improvement Program, including heavy civil, roadway, bridge, structural, utility and related building construction.

You will inspect field work for compliance with approved plans, contract specifications and safety requirements, document construction

Qualifications

• Current LADBS Grading Deputy Inspector License or Deputy Post-Tensioning License; required.
• Minimum five years inspecting Caltrans bridge, roadway and structures projects or ten years as a superintendent on Caltrans bridge, roadway and structures projects.
• Minimum ten years of public works field inspection experience focused on heavy civil and roadway construction or ten years as a superintendent on Caltrans projects.
• Demonstrated expertise in installation and inspection of sewer systems, storm drains, utilities and traffic control measures.
• Strong knowledge of City/County of Los Angeles and Caltrans construction standards, plans and specs.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and communicate with inspectors and stakeholders.
• Cal-OSHA 30-hour training completed within four years before start date.
• Working knowledge of PMIS and electronic construction documents.

Responsibilities

• Inspect major reinforced concrete structures, pile foundations, roadways and bridges across multiple jurisdictions.
• Inspect sanitary sewer systems, storm drains and related structures per LA standards.
• Inspect exterior walls, roofing, waterproofing, interior framing, drywall and finishes.
• Inspect street lighting and traffic signal systems per LA standards.
• Apply standard plans and Caltrans specs.
• Monitor multiphase traffic control plans with pedestrian safety.
• Enforce Cal-OSHA and LAWA safety requirements.
• Prepare daily inspection reports documenting activities, issues and safety.
• Assist with review of monthly progress payments based on completed work.
• Review plans, RFIs, submittals, change orders using PMIS.
• Coordinate with fellow inspectors and project team; perform other duties.
