Job summary

Mott MacDonald in North Carolina seeks a Senior Construction Inspector for highway and bridge inspection in the Western NC area (Asheville, Waynesville, Hendersonville, Sylva). Travel to sites, inspect, test, and document according to plans and contracts.

Requires 8 years’ experience, 4 in road/bridge, and relevant certifications or ability to obtain them. Role involves coordinating with engineers, contractors, utilities, and government officials, and working in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required or equivalent experience.
• Eight years of experience in construction inspection, four preferred in roadway/bridge construction.
• Relevant certifications listed above or obtainable in reasonable time.

Responsibilities

• Review reports, direct duties, and train project inspectors.
• Travel to project sites for inspection and testing duties.
• Document inspection activities following standard procedures and specs.
• Read, interpret, and ensure compliance with plans, specs, and contracts.
• Daily calculation, reporting, and communication in writing and verbally.
• Compute quantities for concrete, asphalt, steel, earthwork, drainage, and traffic control.
• Operate company vehicle, computer, and testing equipment.
• Coordinate progress with engineers, contractors, utilities, and officials.
• Document field changes and as-built plans.
• Assist project engineer with progress payments, diaries, and material test reports.
• Work in office or outdoor environments in varying weather.
