Job summary

M&J Engineering, D.P.C. seeks Senior Construction Inspectors to provide advanced field inspection, documentation, and quality oversight on NYSDOT/NYSTA highway and bridge projects, facilities and buildings, and/or railroad projects.

Locations available include Lower Hudson Valley, Capital District (Albany), or Syracuse Division (west side). Locations may vary; incumbent will mentor junior inspection staff and coordinate with Resident Engineer and project teams to ensure compliance with contract

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering Technology, or related field plus 4 years of experience.
• OR High School Diploma and NICET Level III or relevant trade license plus 6 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and verify construction work for compliance with plans, specs, shop drawings, NYSDOT/NYSTA standards, railroad requirements, and codes.
• Observe construction activities on highways, bridges, buildings, rail and transit projects.
• Monitor contractor compliance with environmental permits, work zone safety, railroad safety rules, OSHA requirements, and PPE protocols.
• Identify nonconforming work and coordinate corrective actions with contractor and Resident Engineer.
• Perform or witness materials testing and inspections; prepare daily reports and progress summaries.
• Maintain field documentation using AASHTOWare, COMPASS, ProjectWise, and SharePoint.
