Job summary

LJA Transportation is seeking a Sr. Construction Inspector to manage FDOT and local agency road-and-bridge contracts in Florida.

You will supervise inspectors, review plans, coordinate with contractors, and ensure quality and compliance across projects from utility work to drainage and pavement. Ideal candidates have 6+ years in engineering with CEI experience, FDOT standards knowledge, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills and relationship-building abilities are required.
• Six years of engineering experience with two years in major road/bridge construction.
• Experience supervising CEI Inspectors and coordinating with contractors.
• ITS experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Proficiency with Word and Excel; knowledge of FDOT specs.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret contract plans, specs, permits and drawings.
• Supervise inspectors and address issues; escalate to supervisor as needed.
• Review project activities with contractors to resolve disputes.
• Prepare documentation for acceptance of contractors’ materials and workmanship.
• Review RFIs and technical submittals; coordinate with subordinates and clients.
• Assist in all phases of construction and in proposal preparation.
