Job summary

Baker Construction in Tampa seeks an Estimator to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for assigned projects, following up with clients to overcome obstacles to contract awards. The Estimator provides ongoing cost estimate support to operations for awarded contracts.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and 3 years of experience, plus proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating software. Travel may be required up to 25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, accounting or related field from an accredited college or university and 3 years’ related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Proficiency in Estimating software (such as Timberline, UScost, WinEst)

Responsibilities

• Identifies and quantifies construction elements
• Enters quantities into appropriate software program for pricing
• Provides initial data for entry into Commence software
• Provides Contracts Department with applicable specifications documents to identify insurance requirements
• Sends new contracts for “Corporate” review
• Creates relationships with vendors/suppliers to assess capabilities for specific project
• Analyzes vendors/suppliers to determine best value and project continuity
• Assembles quantities in pricing format to reflect bid form requirements
• Creates baseline job duration and identifies special equipment
• Prices changes within necessary timeframe
• Prepares rough schedule for job duration including cash flow and man-hour requirements
• Develops client relationships for current and future jobs
• Tracks project until awarded
• Provides overview of job and proposal to Project Manager and operations support
• Communicates schedule and needs with field supervision

Education

Bachelor’s degree in construction management, accounting or related field from an accredited college or university

3 years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
