Job summary

Forsgren, an Apex Company, is seeking a Construction Engineer to lead transportation CE&I projects in Idaho. The role emphasizes independent leadership, coordination with ITD/LHTAC, and ensuring high-quality infrastructure delivery while traveling to project sites.

You will supervise inspection staff, manage scope, schedule, and budgets, review pay applications, and use PM platforms like AASHTOWare, ProjectWise, and SharePoint. A PE license and 8+ years CE&I experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (preferred) or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Minimum 8 years of CE&I, transportation construction, or materials testing.
• Experience working directly with contractors and field staff.
• Familiarity with AASHTOWare and ProjectWise preferred.
• Willingness to travel to project sites, including overnight stays.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage transportation construction projects for ITD and LHTAC.
• Oversee Construction Inspection staff and provide day-to-day direction and mentorship.
• Manage project scope, schedule, and budget, including contract administration and documentation.
• Coordinate with contractors, local highway districts, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
• Ensure all construction activities comply with ITD and LHTAC standards and specifications.
• Review contractor work, quantities, and pay applications for accuracy and compliance.
• Monitor contractor performance and resolve field issues in collaboration with project teams.
• Participate in field reviews, project meetings, and stakeholder coordination efforts.
• Utilize project management and documentation platforms such as AASHTOWare, ProjectWise, and SharePoint.
