UNICO Engineering is seeking a Senior Construction Engineer to support resident engineers on transportation projects in Northern and Central California.

Responsibilities include meetings, document reviews, budget forecasting, and closeout; must understand Caltrans and local agency standards; PE licensed engineers with 4+ years or 10 years of experience are encouraged to apply. Tremendous opportunity for growth in a fast-growing firm.

Qualifications

• Registered California Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• BS in Construction Management, Civil, or Structural Engineering with 4+ years of relevant construction engineering experience, or 10 years total experience.
• Experience on locally, state and federally funded transportation projects in Northern and Central California.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate and attend meetings with the Contractor, client agencies, and the public.
• Establish and maintain project records.
• Review RFIs and letters and respond accordingly.
• Review and process submittals and payments.
• Ensure contractor work complies with plans and specs.
• Analyze time and cost impacts of extra work.
• Participate in pre-, mid-, and post-construction reviews.
• Manage and forecast project budgets.
• Prepare final project closeout documents.

UNICO is seeking aSenior Construction Engineerwith 4+ yearsexperienceto support our Resident Engineers in project deliver. Experience with locally, state and federally-funded transportation projects in Northern and Central California. Must understand Caltrans and local agency standards, as well as the Caltrans Process. Type of infrastructure projects include roadways, bridges / structures, curb, gutter, sidewalk, underground utilities, earthwork, etc. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required. Specific responsibilities include: attending client and contractor meetings, reviewing plans and specifications and ensuring compliance with documents, providing project documentation in the form of letters, RFI/Submittal response, change orders, manage and forecast budget, maintain as-built drawings, prepare final project closeout documents, etc. Must have experience working in a team environment, This position will report to a Resident Engineer. Salary is dependent upon experience. Tremendous opportunity for growth.

Rsponsibilites:

• Facilitate and attend meetings with the Contractor, client agencies, and the public (as necessary)
• Establish and maintain project records
• Review and respond to RFIs and letters
• Review and process submittals
• Document and authorize payments for the project
• Review the Contractor’s work for compliance
• Review extra work and perform independent cost analysis and time impact analysis
• Participate in and/or conducting pre, mid, and post-construction reviews
• Manage and forecast project budgets
• Review and draft responses to NOPCs and claims
• Maintain as-built drawings
• Prepare final project closeout documents

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Registered as a California Professional Engineer AND
• BS in Construction Management, Civil, or Structural Engineering plus four (4) years of relevant Construction Engineering experience, OR
• Ten (10) years of relevant Construction Engineering experience
