Job summary

Orionplacement is seeking an experienced civil litigation attorney to lead construction defect and general liability defense matters in California. You will own complex cases, develop strategy with senior attorneys, and manage depositions, discovery, and court appearances.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years of civil litigation, active CA Bar, and strong client management skills. Hybrid work across Newport Beach, Sacramento, and Pleasant Hill offices is offered.

Qualifications

• Active California Bar license is required.
• 10+ years of civil litigation experience.
• Construction defect and/or general liability litigation experience required.
• Defense-side litigation experience strongly preferred.
• Experience independently handling discovery, depositions, motions, and court appearances.
• Excellent legal research, writing, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
• Strong client relationship and case management abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple complex matters with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage construction defect and general liability defense cases from inception through resolution.
• Develop litigation strategy with clients and senior attorneys.
• Draft, propound, and respond to all phases of written discovery.
• Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and expert witnesses.
• Prepare and argue law and motion matters including demurrers and dispositive motions.
• Appear in court for hearings, case management, and trial-related proceedings.
• Communicate with clients regarding strategy, developments, and risk.
• Supervise paralegals and support staff.
• Collaborate across offices to provide excellent client representation in California.
