Job summary

Evans General Contractors, LLC is seeking a skilled attorney with 5–7 years of construction-law experience to join our onsite Legal Department. The role focuses on strategic contract negotiation, legal counsel, and risk management across projects.

The position is based onsite in a Charlotte, NC office, with exposure to multiple jurisdictions. Ideal candidate will interpret/negotiate complex contracts and support regulatory compliance across project lifecycles.

Qualifications

• J.D. from ABA-accredited law school and licensed to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 5–7 years of experience in construction law and contract negotiation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, high attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Review, draft, and negotiate owner contracts, subcontracts, design agreements, and purchase orders.
• Provide legal support throughout the project lifecycle—from RFP responses and preconstruction to post-construction warranty and claims.
• Advise project teams on legal matters including change orders, claims, notices, and contract administration.
• Collaborate with internal departments and external counsel to resolve legal issues and support business objectives.
• Conduct legal research and prepare opinions and correspondence.
• Participate in regulatory compliance efforts and risk mitigation strategies.
