Job summary

Turner & Townsend in Phoenix seeks a cost management professional to lead project cost control and commercial governance for construction commissions. You will supervise estimates, risk assessments, and vendor pricing while coordinating with clients and project teams to optimize value and profitability.

You will develop bid analysis, cost reporting, and post-contract closeout activities, ensuring SOX/compliance where applicable and maintaining robust documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering or field related to construction.
• Minimum 3-5 years of relevant cost management experience in the construction industry (noted in responsibilities).
• RICS accreditation or working towards it is valuable.
• Experience supporting cost management on medium or large construction projects is preferred.
• Construction consultancy experience is strongly preferred.
• Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters such as procurement routes, value management, and value engineering.
• Strong communication skills are essential.
• On-site presence requirements may vary depending on client needs.

Responsibilities

• Advise client on strategies, prequalify vendors, assess proposals, bids, and bid leveling documents, and make final recommendations.
• Develop project estimates (construction, fees, direct costs) and review estimates prepared by junior team members; present to client.
• Present value engineering recommendations and risk assessments to client; meet with vendors to review costs.
• Review cost reports and forecasts with the client; maintain commercial risk register and host team meetings.
• Oversee payment applications, change orders, and dispute resolution procedures.
• Manage invoicing process and conduct post-contract closeouts and lessons learned.
