CONFIDENTIAL, Grassi Client (construction industry) in Brooklyn, NY, seeks an experienced Controller to lead accounting and financial operations onsite five days a week. The role requires hands-on leadership, strong GAAP reporting, and deep construction industry knowledge.

Ideal candidate has 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, construction exposure, and proficiency in job costing, WIP, budgeting, and ERP systems. CPA preferred; salary range listed below.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• CPA designation preferred but not required.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• Construction industry experience required (demolition/construction).
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, job costing, WIP schedules, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow.
• Experience managing accounting staff and day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting for the company and affiliated entities.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with timely reporting.
• Prepare and review GAAP financial statements.
• Supervise AP, AR, and Payroll functions.
• Maintain internal controls and accounting procedures.
• Oversee cash flow management, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Ensure accurate job costing, project accounting, and revenue recognition.
• Partner with ownership to provide financial insights.
• Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisors, banks, and partners.
• Monitor tax compliance across federal, state, and local requirements.
