Job summary

Development Solutions, Inc. in Oak Brook, IL is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee all accounting and financial operations for a growing construction company. You will manage financial reporting, job cost accounting, budgeting, cash flow, and ensure GAAP compliance.

The ideal candidate has strong construction accounting experience and the ability to collaborate with operations, project management, and ownership to drive financial performance and strategic planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 10+ years of accounting experience, with 5+ years of direct experience in construction accounting.
• Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
• GAAP knowledge, CPA preferred.
• Strong written, verbal and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, and month-end close.
• Manage job cost accounting, including WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion reporting, and cost-to-complete analysis.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Monitor project profitability, labor burden, overhead allocation, and variance analysis.
• Manage cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, bonding requirements and support, and credit lines.
• Coordinate with external CPA firm on year-end audit, tax filings, and reviews.
