Job summary

Margullis Construction is seeking a Senior Accountant to own the financial engine behind our multi-revenue construction business. You will work remotely with ownership to price jobs, manage cash, and invest in equipment.

Requirements include 5+ years of accounting (2+ in construction), GAAP mastery, job costing, WIP, and ASC 606. Proficiency with QuickBooks/Sage is preferred. We offer a competitive salary, discretionary bonuses, and full benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in accounting/finance.
• 5+ years progressive accounting experience, 2+ years in construction or project-based accounting.
• Hands-on with job costing, WIP schedules, and ASC 606 revenue recognition.
• Strong command of GAAP and full-cycle accounting.
• Experience with construction software such as QuickBooks Online, Sage, or Foundation.
• Advanced Excel skills and ability to communicate results clearly.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting and manage deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Own month-, quarter-, and year-end close with journal entries and reconciliations.
• Maintain general ledger for construction, rental, and material sales activity.
• Reconcile bank, credit cards, loans, and equipment financing accounts.
• Prepare monthly financial statements with commentary for ownership.
• Set up jobs and cost codes; track labor, materials, subcontractors by job.
• Prepare WIP schedules and apply ASC 606 revenue recognition.
• Analyze costs by job; flag margin erosion early.
• Manage AR/AP, lien waivers, and insurance and W‑9 compliance.
• Maintain fixed asset register; track depreciation and equipment financing.
• Support payroll and compliance; file state taxes; coordinate audits.
