Job summary

GPAC is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant / Controller to lead the accounting function for a growing commercial construction company. This role oversees day-to-day accounting operations, ensures accurate financial reporting, strengthens internal controls, and leads an accounting team in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

The ideal candidate brings deep construction accounting experience, strong leadership, and advanced proficiency in Foundation Software and Excel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of accounting experience in the commercial construction industry.
• Hands-on experience with Foundation Software required.
• Proven experience leading or supervising an accounting team.
• Strong understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, and construction billing methods.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, complex formulas, reporting automation).
• Enterprise-level accounting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and manage the accounting team, ensuring accuracy and professional development.
• Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, job costing, and close processes.
• Manage Foundation Software setup, cost integrity, and reporting accuracy.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Ensure accurate job costing, WIP schedules, and cost-to-complete forecasts.
• Oversee cash flow management, billing, collections, and vendor payments.
• Strengthen internal controls, policies, and procedures.
• Coordinate audits, reviews, and tax filings with external CPAs.
• Support project managers with financial reporting, budgets, and variance explanations.
• Build financial models and dashboards with advanced Excel.
